Nike is releasing yet another variation of the Kobe 11 to celebrate Kobe Bryant’s career. With his last game fast approaching, Kobe has been releasing many shoes. Each of the shoes to drop is a unique piece of the puzzle, each shoe has its own history. The Kobe 11 “Draft Day” symbolizes the beginning of Bryant’s career.
The shoe comes dressed in white, blue lagoon, and court purple. These are the team colors of the Charlotte Hornets, the team Kobe was drafted to before he was traded to the Lakers. Kobe was the 13th pick in the ’96 NBA Draft and was traded to the L.A. Lakers on draft day. The date Kobe was drafted, “6.26.96,” appears on the heel of the shoe.
Kobe branding can be seen on the tongue of the shoe in purple. Unlike most of the other Kobe 11s this version is not made of flyknit, but mesh. The shoe is expected to launch on April 28, 2016 at select Nike Basketball retailers. The shoe will cost $160.
If you are a Kobe fan, especially if you’ve been one from the beginning these are a definite must cop. Not only is the Kobe 11 a dope shoe overall, but this particular rendition tells a bit of his story. A story that’s quickly coming to an end.
