Adidas Skateboarding unveils a custom silhouette co-designed by Diego Nájera, marking the riders first signature colorway since joining the adidas team in 2017. The all-new Sabalo features a composition of premium materials and durable build resulting in an elevated but fully-skateable style.
“The concept for the Sabalo was designed to have the foxing tape resemble the view of a shoe through the fisheye lens with a relatively simple and easy to wear upper.” says adidas Senior Designer Noah Hoose. “When working with Diego on his colorway, he was interested in doing something a little more sophisticated and clean. The color is a reference to a pair of Raf Simons x Stan Smiths he had always liked, and the clear bottom was inspired by the translucent outsole for a pair of City Cups.”
The Sabalo redefines the look of vulcanized footwear incorporating a playful take on the fisheye lens, prominent in skate cinematography. The Diego x Sabalo features hand-picked detailings and a purposefully simplistic make-up. Curved detailing on the shoe’s full-grain leather upper combined with embroidered branding, sticky geoflex rubber outsole, and an improved adiprene™ sock liner seamlessly translate the rider’s smooth and immaculate style into a clean footwear offering.
“The shoe is simple, sleek, and has a very subtle poppy edge along the heel,” says Diego Nájera. “The attached tongue and solid toe piece mean there is no place for the shoe to rip…it’ll definitely be a style that lasts.”
The Sabalo x Diego is available at specialty adidas retailers worldwide and on the adidas Skateboarding website for $75 USD.
