The beloved Air Jordan 1 “Banned” is making a comeback in 2016. The classic red and black leather upper has a refrence to the time when the then NBA commissioner David Stern forbid MJ from wearing the sneakers do to the bold palette. The ‘X’ branding found on the heel represents the “banned” theme of the shoe.
The famous quote from the Jordan Brand commercial can be found on the insole of the shoe. The date the iconic shoes wer banned can be found on the lining. on the inside of the tongue the phrase “imagine if” can also be found.
The 2016 edition of the Air Jordan 1″Banned” will hit store shelves this fall on September 3rd. The retail price is set at $160 USD.
