It’s been twenty years since we last saw the Nike Air Max Griffey 1 “Griffey for Prez” in 1996. The Air Max Griffey 1 made a comeback this year and we have already seen a few releases so far. I think it’s safe to say that 2016 is the year of the Griffey.
The Swoosh is paying homage to its 1996 “Griffey for President” campaign in 2016 with the release of the “Griffey for Prez”. The shoe comes in a midnight navy nubuck upper with gold detailing throughout. Team red makes an appearance on the laces as well as the pull tab on the heel.
A modern reinterpretation of the “Griffey for Prez” button can be found on the sole and the heel of the shoe. A white mid, and a gum outsole tie everything together.
The Nike Air Max Griffey 1 “Griffey for Prez” will officially release on June 28th. The sneakers will retail for $160. Take a look at the images below, and don’t forget to vote Griffey!
